Awards are offered in the following categories:
Bathroomware: sanitaryware, taps, vanity units, shower screens, bathroom accessories.
Furniture: outdoor & garden products, residential, hospitality, commercial, artwork.
Fabric: upholstery, curtains, blinds & soft furnishings
Lighting: lamps & lighting, lighting systems
Kitchen Appliances: ovens, cook-tops, range-hoods, sinks, refrigerators & dishwashers, household appliances
Surface Finishes: laminates, wall tiles, veneers, metal, glass & paint
Flooring: floor tiles, carpet, rugs, vinyl, parquetry, wood, stone, floating, safety & outdoor
Computer Aided Technology: electronic devices, software, automation modules
Doors / Windows: Blinds, curtains, shutters, curtain hardware and accessories, handles, cabinet & furniture hardware, mouldings, doors (exterior & interior), windows.

The designEX Best Stand Awards were judged on visual impact and design innovation, lighting, flooring and wall finishes, signage, stand layout and product/space ratio, visitor enticement (competitions, special offers, attention gatherers, hospitality on stand) and staff presentation (enthusiasm, available to visitors, identifiable).

The Interior Design Awards were announced on the 20th April 2007 at a gala dinner held at the National Gallery of Victoria where more than five hundred design professionals gathered to hear the commended and winning entries from 16 categories covering residential, retail, hospitality, corporate, public, interior product and interior textile design.
